My favorite book

although this book is a slightly below my reading level, i love everything about it. It is a very sweet tale abouta young romance and the obstacles they must encounter in order to be accepted. It is also a sad tale, which has me in tears everytime i read it. The thing i like most about the book is the wonderful descriptions used by the author to describe the nature around the characters. Everything is described with such intensity that you can really see what is going on in the story. i recommmed this book to anyone, because it is a simple book that can bring a smile to your face, and a tear to your eye.

VERRRRRRRRRRRRY GOOD!

I must say I am shocked! I loved it sooooo much. There is romance, fun, those little quirks that if your smart you get, and those things that leave you so shocked! ( Yes Brother M. I said shocked again)there is not another book I would like to have then this. It is sad, I must say I had a tear or two fall, and I pride myself on selfcontrol! I say Read It!

The Spirit Window really has just that, Spirit!

The Spirit Window was an extremely capivating book. When I read it, it was like I was right there, with Miranda, feeling and experiencing everything. Ms. Sweeney has a way of making you feel for her characters. It makes you want to laugh when they laugh, and cry when they cry. They attraction between Miranda and Adam was very sweet and captivating. I found it touching. From when he scared her to death when they first met to thier symbolic farewell, it was well, wonderful.

Entertaining

"Spirit Window" was an easy read. Perfect for car trips and last-minute book reports, it contained a definite plot, the characters were believable, and the conclusion was satisfying. Praise for Joyce Sweeny! Keep up the good work.

Spectacular YA on nature and identity

This is a well-spun tale of nature, perspective, and personality. Fifteen-year-old Miranda is visiting her grandmother in Florida, along with her father, Richard, and her stepmother, Ariel. Her grandmother recently had a heart attack and wants to make amends with Richard, who has not seen her since a fight they had long ago. When Miranda gets to Florida, in the swampy marsh where her grandmother, Lila, lives, she discovers a whole new side of herself, as she tries to capture nature on her special black-and-white film. But as her knack for photography is part of her, the birds and the marsh and everything Lila loves, becomes part of her as well. When she meets an eighteen-year-old part Cherokee boy, Adam, who helps her grandmother with odd jobs, she finds the love of nature and the wild, carefree person inside of her that her father claims, "reminds me of your mother." When Mirands finds out what the dispute between Lila and Richard was about, she is angered and does not know whose side to take--her father's or her grandmother's. Lila was upset by the fact that Richard wanted to use her property, which she was leaving him in her will, to clear away and build a mall. When Lila dies, and they find that she has changed her will and left the land to Adam, Richard is not sure how he feels--it's as if Lila has chosen Adam to be her son instead of him. She says in her video will that she can't trust Richard. Adam's situation causes conflict between himself and Miranda's father, while Adam also turns into a romantic interest for Miranda. Miranda tries to determine her newfound feelings and individuality, perceiving that she will have to search deep inside herself for a way to make her father realize what is right and to save the precious place where she has learned to cherish memories of her mother and to be herself. The vivid descriptions, such as that of the wonderful, diverse nation of birds, provide entertaining reading and even educational reference. There's exceptional sym! bolism; the story is filled with emotion; and there is so much suspense I wouldn't recommend going to sleep without finishing. Sweeney's well-thought-out metaphors of rebirth and the various sides of the self will please you. The ending is both satisfying and symbolic. I would recommend this novel not only to nature fans and environmentalists, but anyone who enjoys a good read.
