The Spider King

By David Swope

Book Overview

King Fang has set a competition, and suitors for his daughter must spin a royal web for his approval. Will the princess marry the spider of her father's choosing, or one who makes her laugh?

A contest has led to a royal wedding.

Who will be punished? Who will be king?

The princess leans in, and King Fang too,

waiting to see what Louis will do.

And then he does something no spider has done.

It really is simple when it is spun.

Behold Lou's tale of love, laughs-and fear.

Is it on to the throne, or off with his rear?

The Spider King is a fairy tale with a twist, told in rhyme. It's a funny and surprising story about creativity, simplicity, and staying true to yourself. A read aloud for children ages 6-10-and their parents.
