Death is in the sky... fast, silent, and almost without warning.

There's something wrong in western Utah. Deadly riots have erupted in two small towns in a matter of weeks, claiming men, women, and children. Rumors swirl: lights in the night sky, strange honey-lemon odors, friends and loved ones turning into psychotic monsters and attacking each other with every weapon they can lay their hands on.
The Department of Homeland Security dispatches two of its agents, Cale Margrove and Nan Ishii, to investigate. The agents are from a small division known as OIDR, and are meant to be troubleshooters, calling in the bigger guns when they have enough information. But when the facts point them toward a nearby top-secret testing facility, and their presence at the scene of a third incident leads to a violent nighttime confrontation in the desert, the agents are forced to act. Before long they find themselves on the trail of a renegade Air Force colonel and his team-angry men who have stolen cutting-edge, mind-bending technology and plan to use it on a gathering of political protesters at the National Mall in Washington DC.
The chase leads from one state to another, and culminates in a showdown aboard a semi barreling towards the heart of the nation's capital. Can the two agents, outnumbered and under-armed, stop this group of homegrown terrorists before they massacre thousands of unarmed civilians-and ignite a civil war?
