Sound of war is a heart warming story of a group of Africans, who have suddenly turned away from the vision, with which their ancestors fought for their freedom. This digression comes to play when a new king ascends the throne of Umuisa. Metu as the young king is called, goes ahead shove culture and tradition to the wind. He refers to their culture as archaic change the system of government and this leads to a riot amongst them. Furthermore, he goes ahead to declare his intension to demolish some old sacred statues in the village square, which symbolizes their gods. Chioma an the oldest person in the land wouldn't let this happen. She gathers the villagers to tell them the actual story of how those monuments came to be. In the process of this, she also tells them of how their land Umuisa came into existence.
