Allyce awakens the following morning to find her lover, The Sentinel acutely ill. His cottage where they spent the night together is many miles from the realm and help. To save Sentinels life she must run many miles to get help for him. Along the way, she encourages her inner mind to maintain a sense of perseverance. and courage. She does this because the countryside is desolate and deserted. She continues on her trek until she encounter's a large orange dog who seems to be tracking her every move. Allyce is certain that the large beast is there to slaughter her. In terror, she runs faster to escape it. But suddenly from the air she is attacked by a large Falcon that swoops down from the heavens and all but takes her eyes out. Believing she is under siege again her running speed increases until she accidentally collides with a large black royal carriage on the road. thus its horses collide with her knocking her down and nearly trampling her to death. On the dusty road, she meets the Duke de La Massapinot who comes to her aide because of her injuries.
