Dantes lives in 1865 Liechtenstein, a country that has fallen under the leadership of the fascist dictator Count Zurko (George Sanders). A dandy by day, by night Dantes dons mask and cape to become "The Torch", a do-gooder who tirelessly works rallying the peasantry to topple Zurko's regime and to save the Grand Duchess Zora (Joan Bennett) from her arranged marriage with the dictator. Among the many highlights of this large-scale swashbuckling tale are its outstanding supporting cast that includes Clayton "The Lone Ranger" Moore and Ralph "Dick Tracy" Byrd.
