A Great Coffee Table Book--for the Middle East

I live in the Middle East, and have found this book very entertaining and useful. Entertaining, because whenever my Arab neighbors come over, they really get a kick out of the clever proverbs and witty sayings. It's always a great book for a conversation starter or sustainer. It's also useful because it gives great Arabic language and cultural instruction. You can really get to know the heart and soul of a people through their proverbs, and this book helps you understand the Arab people better by teaching you some of their numerous sayings of wisdom.

A small collection of Egyptian wisdom

This is a fun book with a relatively innovative idea. It includes a sample of Egyptian proverbs accompanied with illustrations and written in Arabic with English translation. Most proverbs are quite funny, but they also reflect much wisdom in their meaning. This is a very pleasant book which can be a helpful aid in learning the language.
