Set in the Danish town of Elsinore, Dan Sommerdahl (“summer-dale”) is a chief investigator and his bff Flemming Torp is his partner. Sommerdahl’s wife Marianne is head of forensics and they all work in the same place.
Flemming Torp has kept his feelings for Marianne to himself but that’s about to change…
Marianne is tired of waiting home for Dan (even though they all get called to a scene every time). On their 25th anniversary she tells him, apparently for the first time ever, that she is tired of waiting home for him and she wants to separate.
The stories are good and several run two episodes. Not unlike Midsomer Murders but without all the town fètes.
Elsinore is a seaside town where people swim in the ocean and never get cold even if they come out of the water and one of the characters is there in a windbreaker and two shirts. Tough folks, these Danes! :-)
It is subtitled, so you will be reading all the time you’re watching. They speak Danish and it was interesting watching them interact.
It’s worth the subtitles and the romantic triad for the mysteries and the settings.
Recommended for watchers of British mystery shows and anyone curious about Danish culture.
