61 fly patterns: Partridge and Orange, Iron Blue Dun, and many more historically proven flies Ten new chapters on tiny soft hackles and how to tie them New color photos of 38 tiny soft hackles Sylvester Nemes is singlehandedly responsible for the popularity of the soft-hackled fly in American fly fishing today. "The Soft-Hackled Fly," Nemes's first book, written in 1975, was the catalyst for the resurgence. Now revised with ten new chapters on tiny flies and full-color photos, Nemes shares colorful experiences at home and abroad, the history of the soft-hackled fly, and illustrated step-by-step instructions for tying the flies. He also describes his technique of fishing the flies.
This is simply a great book. It is written with a fantastic style that makes you want to run out and tie up a bunch of softhackles and fish them the way Mr. Nemes does. The section on tiny soft hackles is important for anyone who fishes midges, tricos and other small hatches as it gives much information and options to match the hatch!

The joy of simplicity

Years ago the only book on fly fishing I had was "Trout" by Ray Bergman. At that time all I fished were wet flies. The flies were simple to tie and they also caught a lot of trout for me. As time progressed it seemed that with Dry flies, nymphs, pre-emergers, emergers, duns, and spinners life along the trout stream seemed to get more difficult and frustrating if not complicated. Sylvester Nemes, took me back to the time with fly fishing was relaxing fun and simple. I enjoy creating the soft hackles at my vise and fishing them. It always impresses me at just how effective these soft hackles are considering the simplicity of their make up. Anyone who wants to rediscover the simplicity and enjoyment of fly fishing as it was meant to be will enjoy reading "The Soft-Hackled Fly and Tiny Soft Hackles"
Very old and Proven.
