Bridget Ivy Kentworth has had an ideal, privileged life. Or so it seems. Her parents' money certainly gave her the privilege part, but that also came with high expectations of the reputation they wanted her to uphold. Starting with going to the right schools, getting the right degree; all so that she would land the right man to marry. A man that would mean she never had to work, instead would spend her days shopping and going to brunch at the country club; just like her mother.
Despite all that, she never expected what her parents did on her college graduation day. Not wanting the life they have planned for her, she runs, covering her tracks as best as she knows how.
Kyle Miller has never had it all, but he lives his life in a way to not let the people closest to him know that. And that's easier than it may sound when the closest people to him are his coworkers.
He doesn't do relationships. And he hasn't let that bother him. Until it does. When he gets a puppy, he quickly realizes he's in over his head and needs someone to help with the dog when he's at work.
Enter Ivy. She helps him with his puppy, but also confuses him. He's not interested in a relationship, but could he be? She isn't in Texas looking for romance, just freedom for her life. But could she have both? Will they figure out their feelings before her parents come? And what happens to Kyle and Ivy when her parents do find her?
