Occult, murder, intrigue, and serial killings are all words that Rion Connors, an FBI agent specializing in ritualistic, occult serial killings, understands. He, along with his best friend and partner, Tyger Mikula, have proven themselves very effective in solving murders. Rion's latest challenge reveals itself after a recent victim dies from supernatural powers. The medical examiner, who has studied mystical forces for years, suspects a spiritual movement has begun in a small, coastal town - Rae, Georgia that is being led by one of the local spiritual club leaders. This club's leader and members, he believes, are tapping into a mysterious force called, "The Okon", and using its power to kill people. After arriving in Rae, Rion encounters several colorful and suspicious local characters. These include: Dayen McBride, the leader of one of the popular clubs, Denver Bassett, a former boyfriend of Dayen's, Boe Rudy, the outcast, Julie Cody, Boe's closest and only friend, among others. Boe and Rion, who are both haunted by their childhoods, are brought together by a mysterious connection. Once believing he was invincible because of his own personal spiritual gift, Rion learns he has become the Okon leader's next target. Rion may, for the first time in his life, find himself totally unprepared to fight an extremely powerful, supernatural force. By the end of the case, Rion and Boe will learn that the greatest battles are indeed fought in the mind and that the greatest power ever given mankind is the power of choice...
