A wonderful mix of whimsy; surrealism; black humor & realism

Gary Bigelow is a wonderful story-teller who has the uncanny ability of making his fictional characters as believeable as the neighbors down the road or next door. The characters of Allegory Falls all have a Twilight Zone/Outer Limits/Picket Fences etal. quality about them but Gary takes the reader on a faced paced, fun joy ride through this fictional town. For all who have lived in a small town, the characters, in their excentricities, are immediately recognizable. Gary's characters are "everyman" in a sense, full of dreams and simple pleasures. Gary Bigelow's illustrations are also very nice...it is nice to see a book illustrated these days...a small treasure of words and ideas. I hope he writes more.
