Michael Hawthorne, a former army officer with a troubled past, arrives in London to study theology after University of Oxford. Now, under the guise of charity, he preys on the vulnerable, rationalizing his gruesome acts as a way to "cleanse" the city of its sin.
Michael struggles with his growing fear and his sense of duty. Torn between loyalty to his mentor and the horrors he uncovers, he tries to gather evidence to expose Blackwood. But Blackwood, sensing Michael's suspicions, begins to manipulate him, using Michael's war trauma and guilt to weaken his resolve.
The story builds to a chilling climax when Michael discovers Blackwood's ultimate plan: a grotesque feast hidden beneath the parish, where the reverend intends to serve the flesh of his victims to an elite circle of corrupt benefactors. With Eleanor's help, Michael must decide whether to confront Blackwood head-on or risk becoming another victim in the reverend's macabre ministry.
