The Silver Squad Rides Again

Barry, Beth, and Jenny ride again

The Silver Squad Rides Again picks up where the multi-award-winning The Silver Squad: Rebels With Wrinkles left off. This time Barry, Beth, and Jenny take on a trapper who tortured a wolf and a health insurance company that has denied a fifteen-year-old girl the surgery she desperately needs.

Meanwhile, Aaron, a man with a history of domestic violence, seeks revenge on Barry and Beth for their previous encounter.

Ultimately, someone will ride in the trunk.

The Silver Squad Rides Again is a comedic novel that celebrates living life to the fullest while tackling the serious issues of animal cruelty, corporate greed, bigotry, and claustrophobia. Yes, definitely claustrophobia.

The Silver Squad is back and they've gone legit, well, sort of...

Barry, Beth and Jenny are back, and this time they have a whole team behind them. The residents of the Blue Loon Village have joined together to help Barry and Beth with their continued support and care of the area's homeless. Thanks to their act of bravery in stopping a mass shooter with a can of Spam, the squad has become national heroes, making it easier to help the homeless without having to resort to crime. But when a health insurance company's CEO refuses to cover a necessary operation for Kayleigh, a 15 year old girl, Barry and Beth are determined to set him straight and make him approve her operation, no matter what it takes. While the idea did come up to just shoot the CEO, they decided to take the issue to the public and see if public pressure could convince him. Meanwhile, Aaron, a man with a history of domestic violence, and who the squad had run into previously, is back too, and he's out for revenge on Barry and Beth. Their previous encounter had left him jobless, divorced and homeless, but when he receives $14,000 from the sale of his house, he sees a way to get back on his feet, but more importantly, a way to get back at the Silver Squad. With three kidnappings, a bit of violence, a few press conferences and no Spam to throw, Barry, Beth and Jenny walk a fine line between following the law and outright criminality to get Kayleigh the operation she needs while dealing with the violent Aaron and taking a side trip to deal with a trapper who delights in torturing wolves. Yes, someone will end up riding in the trunk, and somebody else will willingly ride in the trunk, but most importantly, we find out whether a gay drag queen can be a hero too. The book kept me tense from beginning to end, while also providing many chuckles and outright bursts of laughter, the only problem I had with the book was that it ended too soon. I wanted more, and I hope Barry, Beth and Jenny aren't done yet, there's still plenty of bad actors out there that need to dealt with the Silver Squad way.
