OK, once it got going.

Two connected stories over three hundred years. The initial domestic violence was off-putting. I had to start it twice to get to the more interesting parts. Lots of information about silk worms and metamorphosis and the author is not subtle about the symbolism of this. This is a woman's book. Happy endings for everyone.
