This book is an intimate look at my struggles with suicide attempts and thoughts, as well as an examination of the scarce research on suicide within the Black community. Black women are often expected to be perpetually strong and never to face a problem they cannot overcome. Yet, what goes unseen is the lifelessness behind their bright smiles, the resolve in their eyes, and the physical rigidity from stress and the burdens of life, frequently shouldered alone.
