The Short Straw is a compendium of short stories written over several decades, whenever particular incidents demanded my attention. A couple of them are animal stories, a handful of them are humorous stories, and a bunch of them are true stories. Their main purpose is to entertain with maybe an insight or two. Don't blame me for anything the characters do or say; like my wife and daughters, they have minds of their own. I'd be surprised if some of them didn't make you laugh.
