This study analyzes the impact of bank-based salary payments for public-sector teachers in the city of Goma on their saving behavior. The aim was to determine what impact financial inclusion has had on the behavior of teachers in Goma. The results of field research conducted among 90 teachers in the city of Goma show that government employees appreciate the method of payment via bank transfer. Despite the regularity of pay, we found that banking access has encouraged savings only to a very limited extent, as the salaries of most teachers are too low to allow for savings; only those with a more or less decent salary are able to save. It should also be noted that this method of payment, due to the regularity of pay, facilitates saving and, consequently, access to credit. However, teachers' salaries remain very low, which leads to low savings.
