A leaked archive known as the Grey Ledger links Daniel Mercer to disappearances, indefinite detention, and evidence manipulation carried out under the Emergency Crown. He calls it a restorationist fabrication. His daughter Emma, now leading the Assembly inquiry, refuses to accept either accusation or denial without a public chain of evidence.
Some pages carry impossible dates. Others match records held by witnesses who have spent years trying to be heard. The mixture of possible forgery and possible truth is more dangerous than a simple lie. Every authenticated page threatens Daniel. Every exposed fabrication threatens Emma's inquiry.
As counties withhold grain and discuss secession, hearings become another front in a struggle over who will inherit the Compact. Stonegate itself turns into a symbol claimed by Daniel's defenders, his victims, and armed factions waiting for lawful authority to fail.
