In the autumn of 1887, the grand Thornfield Hall stands as a beacon of old wealth and quiet decay, nestled deep within the mist-laden moors of the Peak District. Its owner, the reclusive and enigmatic Lord Reginald Blackwood, has invited an eclectic group of guests for a weekend of celebration-his long-awaited engagement to the young and beautiful Miss Eleanor Whitcombe.
