Norwegian mystery

This is a very contemporary novel which is translated from Norwegian and moves along at a good pace. In a small, decaying, former industrial town a young skinhead dies when his car is forced off the road. The locals immediately suspect the resident Serbian asylum seekers. Racial tensions in the small town are recognizably presented, as is the passionate and very secret relationship between the main character and his sister-in-law. The protagonist is a journalist, his brother a cop, so plenty of contemporary issues are woven into the texture of the novel. The characters are well drawn and there is considerable humor in the book. The resolution is pretty good, with some nice modern touches to the crimes as committed.
