I'm a marketer by trade, and gather up donated books to send to penniless overseas churches (who have no books and maybe one Bible, usually.) This book details the religiously fickle, crassly commercial, and perplexingly difficult world of running a Bible bookstore. The author(s) were a retired couple wanting to bless their community with the best literature of historic Christianity (not partisan, just good.) What rang the register, though, was flavor-of-the-month populist dreck of little (or no) spiritual value. The stories are amusing, *insightful for anyone who plans to work with church people,* and comical- even warm sometimes. They're nice, and I really enjoyed them. Victor is a very likeable immigrant =) Here was the shock though! I thought, "Wow this book is so current! When was it written? 2008?" No, it was written in 1967!!!! Seriously, a big value for broad education/perspective.
