Sydney is still in Paris, surreptitiously working with American and Israeli intelligence agents in the planned apprehension of the murderous band of five ex-Nazi officers who had slipped out of Germany before the collapse of the Third Reich with stolen assets taken from their victims as they made their escape. She will stare death in the face when the trap for their capture turns into a bloodbath. An unlikely character will save her life. But she is soon drawn back to Chicago when the unexpected death of her father forces her to return to try and salvage the family banking empire that had fallen on hard times. It will require the aid of both new and old acquaintances to brutally stave off an extortion attempt by a Latvian gang.
The stages are set for turmoil, danger, and the ever-changing circumstances of our three main characters' lives. Does Paul survive? Will Paloma and Justin renew their love affair? Does Sydney succeed in saving the bank? All will be revealed in this second part of their stories. The survivors' lives will become ever more entwined with other characters as they continue to move along the often rocky path of the road to their eventual fates. Deception, lies, love, growth, and death will define their journeys.
