Warm, funny, and emotional -- a GREAT read!

What a great book! I laughed (the romance between the chaperone and the French count is hysterical!) and cried (Nick is SUCH a wonderful character and Sara really gets to him) throughout the entire book. This book is going on my Keeper Shelf right beside my Julia Quinn books. Here's the story: Sara Carrington has had it with men -- especially her five hunky brothers, the St. Johns. They are determined that her wild ways since the death of her first husband, should come to an end. And to make sure of that, they intend to pick a new husband for her. But Sara's no wet noodle -- since her brothers won't rest until she's married, she decides to pick her own husband. Someone who will free her from her bothersome brothers and let her go her own way.Enter Nicholas Montrose, the disreputable Earl of Bridgeton. Nick has a secret (which I won't tell you about here!) and while he is fascinated by Sara and more than willing to offer her a place as his mistress, he wants nothing to do with marriage. Time is running out for Sara -- her brothers are on their way to town and soon she'll be so closely watched that her dreams of freedom are about to disappear. Nick, seeing a prime opportunity, offers to teach Sara the art of seduction so she can quickly capture a husband. Sara agrees and the stage is set.The sexual tension in this book is so thick you could slice it with a knife. And Sara and Nick together are a powerful testiment to true love. I sighed at the ending -- it was just perfect.Ms. Hawkins writes with a flair and humor that few other authors offer. I LOVED this book and can't wait until August to read An Affair To Remember, which I think is about Sara's best friend, Anna, and Sara's brother, Anthony. Don't miss this The Seduction of Sara -- it will leave you wanting to read ALL of Ms. Hawkins's books!

Let the Games Begin

Karen Hawkins is an absolute master at writing stories that get your attention from the very beginning and hold it to the very end and the Seduction of Sara is a prime example. Sara is a widow who wants to get married and doesn't want the restrictions of a marriage, Nick is a rake who wants a place in society and a mistress but not the commitment of a marriage. When the these two get together the sparks fly. Nick tries to teach Sara the fine art of seduction in hopes of making her his mistress and Sara wants to learn the art of seduction in hopes of gaining her a pliable husband that will allow her to do as she wishes. Neither of them plans to fall in love with the other. Ms. Hawkins hooks the reader from the very beginning and keeps the pages turning with humor, intrigue, passion, and unexpected suprises. I cannot wait until her next book comes out. Enjoy!!

Karen Hawkins has done it again!

Nicholas is a rake with a reputation who is trying to regain his respectability. Sara, who is trying to keep her brothers from selecting a husband for her, is planning to have Nicholas teach her how to entice the man that she selects for her next husband. The situation becomes a problem when Sara falls for Nicholas and uses his own instructions to seduce him. The Book is very funny and very entertaining. I loved it.

Regency romance readers will appreciate this work

In 1815 London widow Saraphina Lawrence wants her older brother Marcus to just leave her alone instead of telling her how to behave. Sara simply embraces life and does not care what the Ton thinks so she seems always one step away from scandal. Marcus wants Sara married again, as he believes a woman especially a female under twenty-five needs a husband to protect her. Sara was disappointed in her first husband because of his mistresses so does not want to go that route, but if she must she will choose a spouse that she can control. Earl Nicholas Montrose has just returned from Paris with a goal of overcoming his reputation as a "bad boy" so he can attain social respect. However, when he meets Sara, his plan goes out the window, as he desires her like he never wanted a woman before. She wants to use him to teach her seduction, but knows he is not malleable, as is her requirement in a husband. Love enters the relational equation, leaving both bewildered and wondering what to do next. Regency romance readers will appreciate THE SEDUCTION OF SARA, a battle royale between the sexes. The story line is amusing as Sara and Nicholas struggle with an unwanted attraction. The lead characters are a delightful duet whose disconcertion is exacerbated by caring interfering secondary characters. With this tale and its prequel (see THE ABDUCTION OF JULIA) the historical romance audience will recognize Karen Hawkins as a rising enchantress.Harriet Klausner
