The manipulator is like a dark cloud that prevents the sun's rays from reaching us. As long as it dominates us or we stay "below", we feel bad, we do stupid things, we're confused, and we go around in circles. But by cutting off all relationships of dependence or by completely breaking with the one that ruins our lives, we come out of its nefarious darkness to find the warm rays of peace, freedom, and intelligence.

It would be an oversimplification to think of the manipulator as a big bad wolf and see us as innocent victims with pure and unblemished hearts. If we are more or less regularly victims of manipulators, this is rarely due to chance.
