I teach music to young people, and I think Ribbit's Rules for Living present some of the best advice young people could have for how to manage their lives successfully. The book itself is fun and interesting and gives young people much to think about and then to use, without preaching to them. Ribbit is quite an entertaining character, and the use of animals in a fable-sort of way keeps this book from being dull, even though it deals with serious subject matter like "what does God look like?" "how can I make good decisions for my life?" etc. Anyone who likes this book will like Pokeberry's newest book as well: The Huckenpuck Papers. This book has the same animal characters, albeit it with more anecdotes about them, and the same philosophy of life, but deals with different issues, such as self esteem for young girls.
Excellent book regarding how teens make good decisions!

As a pastor for 50 years, I found this book to be both enjoyable and sound on the advice teaching teens how to make positive decisions, listening to their hearts and not their heads; doing things not because others do them, but because they are the "right" thing to do. The right thing is following the Golden Rule as Jesus taught--not hurting others nor ones self. Some clergy won't like it because of its description of God, but I like it; it does away with the anthropormorphic view of God as being "male" and a "person" like we humans. God is so much more, and a part of everything God has created. I loved the book and recommend it to parents, teachers, teens and anyone with a desire to see love and caring as the way to live out our lives.
Excellent philosphy & guidelines for pre-teens & adults too!

As a mother of 6, grandmother of 11 and teacher of church school teachers who has taught children, youth in Churches, I highly recommend this excellent book for teaching constructive decision making for children, youth and as well as parents. It would have been helpful to me for guidance for our own children and I plan on using it for our grandchildren. It gives very positive and uplifting concepts for joyful living and responsible decision making.
