It is a story of possible loves: between real characters like Diego and Irene, Valentina and Federica, or the mysterious, even more 'real', Vineyard Folk who emerge from the underground caverns. And also of impossible loves: between all the characters and the Salento Vineyard Plains, between the warm south wind and the cold north wind, between the ancient stones and the sinkholes. It is above all a story that invites us to believe in our hopes and dreams, because 'when fables make their way into your heart then they become real'.The story is set in the Salento area of southern Italy, but its significance goes beyond the confines of Salento and its fascinating city of Lecce. It is a story that denounces a human society increasingly neglectful of important values such as love, friendship and togetherness - a society we can protect ourselves from only by nurturing genuine human contact, ties and sharing. Maurizio Mazzotta lived in Novoli (N voli in the novel), in the province of Lecce, in the Salento area of Puglia, in Italy, but worked for many years in Rome. A psychologist, film-maker and writer, he has published numerous articles, academic contributions, novels and short films.
