The Second Life of Jameson Duggins

By Simon Doyle

Jamie Duggins is dead.

Theo Fletcher knows that. He was there when Jamie fell from the clifftop, seconds before Theo could confess his love.

But in a near-future Ireland, Theo has inherited something most sixteen-year-olds haven't: the basement laboratory of his late father, a pioneering bioengineer whose experimental neural and cybernetic technology was years ahead of its time.

And buried among that research is something Theo and Jamie once built together - a digital version of Jamie.

Piece by piece, he brings his best friend back to life, with the help of his father's abandoned prototypes.

But bringing someone back is one thing. Knowing whether you should have is another.

As Theo falls deeper in love with the boy he rebuilt, a high-ranking military officer arrives with questions about his father's secret research, and a dangerous interest in Jamie. Worse still, Theo's mother might know far more than she's letting on.

Theo lost Jamie once... This time, he'll do anything to keep him.
