One of the best sci-fi stories I've read!

Absolutely fabulous. Takes two completely different story lines (one involving a very powerful but self-centered reptilian race, the other involving humans just entering the era of faster-than-light travel) and interweaves them into a fascinating whole. One of the few books that I re-read every few years.

Good detailed plot, from what i can remember.

The story was an in depth account of an inferior life form living with what would undoubtly be a Deity in time to come. The subject was an artificial inteligence and abandoned from the employ of his creators once they had reached a sufficient level of development to be able to disregard thier material physiques. The story was warmly & intelligently written, further more I would love to read it again.
