Many of his new animal friends work together with him to free the baby. A Thornton Burgess or Beatrix Potter type of story in which all of the animal characters speak English, with a few common French words. The animals are described briefly at the end of Jacques story, along with vocabulary, suggested discussion questions and provisions for making paper book characters to re-enact the story.
