What books have you written?

I don't need to bother writing a long review. This book as well as the entire series is fantastic. To all the haters who gave it one or 2 stars-- WHAT BOOKS HAVE YOU WRITTEN? Please let me know so I can read them since you all seem to know everything there is to writing fantasy. I read well over 100 fantasy books a year most of which are 'doorstoppers'. I've read everyone. I READ everyone. Maybe this book as well as the rest of the series has not broken huge ground-- but it is extremely entertaining, geat world building, very gritty and dark as well as humorous, vividly descriptive. You know this author has PASSION for the story by the way he writes. Aaahh I've said enough... To all the haters out there go back to reading your Waste of Time, Women of Time, and Wheel of Grime series

It Just Keeps Getting Better and Better

Okay, I'll get it out of the way...I love this series, I love the gore, the fighting, the cliches of fantasy, but most of all I love the story...Rob just keep em coming. This is by far the best of the series. If you enjoyed the first 2 books, you'll like this one even more. If you didn't like the first 2 don't waste your time...I can hardly wait for the next book!

Great Book from a Great Author

Though some people have a limited view on what good Fantasy is(ie. Anon from Wyoming) other's like Carl don't. This third installment of The Chronicles of Blood and Stone has everything that a good Fantasy series should. With likeable chracters, nasty villians and a great plotline this is just another great addition to an already fantastic series.Through the two previous chapters in this series we have learned of the bond between brother and sister, the relationship between good vs evil and the difficult choices that must be made in life. These may seem like simple plotlines though Mr Newcomb has managed to twist them into becoming stories that can hardly be put down. At first when reading "The Fifth Sorceress" (Book 1) I was skeptical since it was a debut novel though that skepticism soon ran it's course and I started to learn to love the world of Eutracia.I won't go into a whole synopsis of the story because that is what the blurb is for but I just want to say: Ignore those insulting and meaningless reviews, I almost enver read this series because of them and I would have been making a giant mistake. This a must read story with a new way to write Fantasy. The greatest fantasy writers are those that offer you something different and unexpected, this author gives off a fair bit of both.Though some may not like this series, they have their own opinions, instead of following what others think give this book a chance. But I'll give you one fair warning...watch out because it is quite easy to get ensnared into the world that Mr.Newcombs has created. Enjoy!

A fantastic read

It's difficult to know what to say, really. So many bad things have been said about Rob's books, that somebody should step up on his side. And I'm one of them that will. After reading the first review on this page, I wanted to tear my hair out. So much of what the person said is wrong, incredibly wrong. But enough ranting. In short, this book is my favourite of Rob's first three books. It has more humour (the Dreng scene had me laughing out loud), more action, more characters... It's a pleasure to read it. The characters are genuinely likeable, and you find yourself becoming attached to them, and actually caring about them. When they face danger, you worry. When something good happens, you feel genuinely pleased. The most important part of this book was, for me, the development of the relationship between Prince Tristan and Celeste. Also, it interested me to see Shailiha, Tristan's sister, develop as a warrior.Overall, this is a must-have. Now I must patiently wait forbook four, Savage Messiah.

Another winner, great book

Newcomb is generally a love him or hate him writer, not too many in betweens, and the reviews generally bear that out. I happen to very much enjoy his work, in part because it offers a fresh look on the sickeningly overdone orphan boy/overpowered protaganist. As with the first 2 books, Scrolls moves quickly, lots of action. If you enjoyed the first 2 books, you'll like this-if not, you won't.Anyway, this book up picks up more or less where the Gates of Dawn left off and adds a few new characters and a new direction, albeit tied in with the previous one. In my mind, Tristan is further developed than before, and doesn't come across quite so rash. His sister is far less annoying as well. There's a few surprises here that you will hopefully enjoy as well. I will say I should have knocked this book down to 4 stars for the use of the name "Wulfgar"? Hasn't that name been uses by 18 different writers? Ah well, a great story nonetheless. Hopefully some of you nitpickers with too much time on your hands don't berate Newcomb for either his editor's failure to catch a typo or for Newcomb erroneously describing water as "brackish". Newcomb's not Martin or Erikson, he's not trying to be. He's simply trying to tell a nice story that isn't scripting by the numbers.
