The Scarves

What can you do when the people you love don't think they love each other anymore? When one little girl learns that her grandparents are separating, it's hard for her to understand. Grandpa explains that Grandma steals his chocolate pudding, and her favourite colour is blue. Grandma says that Grandpa watches too much TV, and his favourite colour is red. But when the little girl realizes they really do still love each other, she devises a plan she hopes will bring them back together. Perhaps blending two lives together can be just like knitting two colours together to make a beautiful scarf. Here is a story of how the gulf between people can sometimes be healed through time and memory.

uplifting story about what can happen when a husband and wife separate

When family members separate, sometimes a child can be stuck in the middle. This little girl sees her grandparents separate and wants to see them get back together. The topic is a little sad but it doesn't get into anything too personal or ugly as to why they've separated, but it ends in a happy way fortunately and the tale of getting there is well told. The illustrations are beautiful and have a sold of cold, crisp feel to them that make the scenes look sharp but whimsical at the same time. I really enjoyed the illustrations a lot. The only negative might be that it might give false expectations if readers find themselves in a similar situation.
