This cookbook has more than 500 recipes from the whole era of the Post's publication. It includes also a history of foods and cooking - G. Washington's favorite cake; Abraham Lincoln's favorite also; Dwight Eisenhower's instructions for making vegetable soup; articles from Thoreau and Mark Twain. The book's best feature is the thirty-seven full-page full-color reproductions of Norman Rockwell's covers for the Post. They are wonderful pieces of Americana for the collector. Also, scattered throughout the cookbook are cartoons taken from the magazines. Its many facets make this pleasure reading for the cook - as well as good times in the kitchen!
