The Sand Dollar Necklace

My inspiration for this book came from a few different angles. I was counceling a young naturalist kayak camp for the past two summers in South Carolina where sand dollars can be found. Above all I love and understand the importance of imagination in the mind of a child. This book was first handcrafted for a 3 year old girl named Nora whom I babysat for. She wanted to have a mermaid featured birthday party and her parents asked me to tell one of my mermaid stories (on the nights I babysat I would make up stories for Nora and her sister before they went to sleep :) I handcrafted a book before the party with colorful illustrations as a gift for her. The story was a big hit- parents and friends encouraged me to seek publication.
