The story is a thought-provoking thriller about manipulation, greed, deceit, betrayal and lust for a revenge based on a lie. The Sanctuary in the title is a primate conservation project in the DRC and the action switches between the DRC and London. The sanctuary becomes the site of a vicious staged attack and subsequent occupation of the land by mining interests determined to rape the land of its riches. The protagonist learns of the tragedy and sets out on gaining revenge but soon comes face-to-face with the contradictory vested interests of global business corporations, greedy industrialists, international Governments and his own employer. It is a tale where friend is unwittingly pitted against friend, manipulation becomes reality, the clues are nothing more than an illusion, the outcome is only the beginning and where the motive for revenge is a smokescreen. The book demonstrates the ease in which emotional attachment can be manipulated and directed towards an end divorced from the truth.
