The Saguinaires: Or What I Hate Most About Everything

In a world reeling from a collective vision of humanity's demise, society teeters on the brink of collapse. To restore order, the Department of Psychological Welfare introduces a medication designed to erase the traumatic memory of the Event. While most comply, a resistant minority-dubbed the "Sanguinaires"-refuse to forget. Unmoved by pharmacological amnesia, they confront the harrowing truth head-on, questioning the nature of the vision and its implications for free will and fate.

This second edition delves deeper into the psyche of the Sanguinaires, exploring their existential defiance and the societal mechanisms that seek to suppress dissent. Through a blend of philosophical inquiry and dystopian narrative, the novel examines the tension between collective conformity and individual consciousness.

The Sanguinaires, or What I Hate Most About Everything, is one great meditation on mortality; in sum, it is about death. This work belongs to the existential canon of nihilism, continuing the tradition of Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Camus, Kierkegaard, Cioran, Beckett, and Dostoyevsky. The plot, narrative, characters, and storyline are secondary to the Platonic dialouge undergirding the book.

Having said that, The Sanguinaires takes place in a dystopian world where governments usurp the authority of "health" and "The Science" to enforce despotic control over humanity after having experienced a collective vision of their own deaths. Mankind was plaguged with the foresight of when and how we are all fated to die, as a result of this dark revelation, radicalized individualists have taken the insight as a means to alter their destiny and to finally conquer fate.

The Sanguinaires are a motley, rag-tag group of social misfits who challenge the Department of Psychological Welfare's (D.P.W.) attempt to block out the memory of "The Event" with a forced medication called Nepethene-X. Mandated to undergo "Rectification Therapy" in grimy, half-abandoned Church basements, the Sanguinaires discover that they are resistant to their meds and imbued by the desire to confront and correct Providence through this immunity.

First published by Quattro Books in 2018, The Sanguinaires is strangely prescient of COVID-19 and the tyrannical policies of lockdowns, quarantines, social ostracization, public health being weaponized, and medical totalitarianism. Oddly enough, the prophetically-themed book predicted the actual future and came to the author in a vision during the early 2010s.
