This unique study defines two aspects of modern society--sports and culture--from a traditional perspective, carefully examining their sacred origin and their relevance throughout history in philosophical and religious thought.
Despite its short length, this book covers everything from the parts of the soul, the tripartite (body, soul, spirit) nature of man, historical origins of sports, chess, sports movies, religion and mysticism, to the future of civilization. It clarified many of my thoughts on sports and culture which I had never been able to understand or articulate as clearly as the author has. One warning is the the erudition of the book made it a challenging read, filled with Latin phrases and many references and words which I needed to look up. The discourses in metaphysics required much contemplation to synthesis and understand. Highly recommended nonetheless.
