During World War II, a just married couple decides to take their honeymoon on an island getaway off of the coast of New Hampshire. However, it's late fall by the time they get there and they are the only guests. The woman owner-manager and the old caretaker-cook are the only people on the island other than a couple of lobster fishing families. But it is also wartime, so they find that they must assist with the island's concerns about Nazi Submarines possibly being in the area. A resident cat becomes a facilitator of upsets and assistance.
