"Christina Dodd keeps getting better and better " --Debbie Macomber A "fine stylist" ( Publishers Weekly ) of sizzling romances, award-winning author Christina Dodd crafts a provocative tale of consummate pleasure and ultimate passion set in the Regency period MASQUERADE English orphan Miss Evangeline Scoffield has spent her life contenting herself with dreams. But with an unforeseen inheritance, she can afford one perfect summer. She buys herself expensive clothes, travels abroad, and presents herself as a lady of mystery. MARRIAGE But she quickly discovers her mistake, for a darkly handsome man appears at her bedroom door, claiming to be a Crown Prince--and her fianc . OR THE EVER AFTER OF HER DREAMS? One look into her eyes, and the prince recognizes her. She is his betrothed, the runaway Princess of Serephina. All her denials cannot change that, or alter the passion that burgeons between them. To fulfill their destinies, the prince will do anything--abduct her, coerce her, or, best of all, seduce his reluctant bride into his royal world of peril, promise, and passion.
This is the first Christina Dodd novel I ever read. I've since become a big fan of her wittiness and the spunk of her heroines, but this was my first taste. Evangeline is adorable. Danior is dreamy. Together, they're unstoppable. This is one of those books where you can (or at least I could) see things coming from a mile away, where there was really only a little bit of suspense. I knew exactly what was going to happen, but in an odd way it made it even more wonderful. I knew what was coming, but I was still blown away by Dodd's storytelling, and delighted with the outcome. I guess it's one of those things where you build it up in your mind and you figure the author can't do a better job than your imagination, and then she proves you wrong. THE RUNAWAY PRINCESS is an amazing book. I also recommend ONE KISS FROM YOU.
Best ever!!

When I looked at this book for the first time, I thought that it would be boring. Another one of the books that have the same basic plot, two people meet, they fall in love, and they get married. But when I started reading the book, I was bored, I couldn't put it down! It was so good. This book had everything. It was romantic, it was funny, and it showed what each person was thinking. The pain that they both has been through. And as Evangeline and Danoir takes their journey back to their castle, they learn more and more about each other.I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good romantic book.
One of my favorite romance novels

Christina Dodd has written one of my favorite romances of all times with this book. Though the premise is based on "The Misunderstanding", the book is not trite or boring. The book includes all that is necessary for me in a romance: in-depth characterizations, superb dialogue, a little danger and a lot of action, and a hero and heroine to love and cheer for. The only weak part of the book for me was the mysticism thrown in, but it doesn't really detract from the romance between two strong and very individual characters. If you like Julia Quinn, Stephanie Laurens, the early Amanda Quick, or Jillian Hunter, you will love this book.
A fun, entertaining read!

This book was so much fun -- Evangeline was just what I'd like to be if I was stuck in the situation of having a handsome prince insist I was his betrothed and that I should marry him. She doesn't want to fight him, but he's got the wrong girl and who knows where the real princess is? I had a great time with this book.
Witty, enchanting, completely romantic!

The dialogue between the lovers was magnetic, quick-witted, and engaging -- it sucked me in so quickly, that I could not stop reading. I dreaded coming to the end of this clever adventure -- the whole setting, the lead characters, and the plot completely charmed me. It was the best romance I've read to date -- it made me want to run out and buy every book Dodd has written.
