Romance and Adventure in Texas in 1911

I enjoy Stef Ann Holm novels because the character are wonderful and the stories are always interesting. In this novel you have women trying to find her way in wilds of old west after being sheltered for 20 plus years. The man in the novel is trying to clear in name with the law and tends to dress as women! Take a chance you will enjoy this and you will find your new favoriate author!

Great characters that you'll care about!

Evelyn and Luke are two wonderfully likeable people that had me rooting for them from the very beginning of this great book. They both had me chuckling, and some of the scenes when they first get together on the train with Luke disguised as a woman had me laughing out loud. Though they can be serious when they need to be, they'll keep you laughing throughout the rest of their story. There is plenty of sizzling romance between these two. They burn up the pages as they roll along on their journey across the southwest together. Ms. Holm has a way of making any period in history interesting and fun. You'll fall in love with the times as you fall in love with Luke and Evelyn. I highly recommend this book!

Great Read!

This novel is Stef Ann Holm at her best! I loved every line and couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend reading this book if you love romance.

The Runaway Heiress is sure to be a runaway bestseller

Ms. Holm's books never disappoint me and The Runaway Heiress is no exception. I loved this book. She took a time period that is seldom written about and has created a fun and sexy story. I loved Evelyn and Luke's wild ride across the countryside using trains, cars and horses. Only Ms. Holm could disguise the hero as a woman and make it work like a charm. Don't miss it!

It Happened One Night but in 1911

In 1911 Beaumont, Texas, after Baron Oil heiress Evelyn Thurgood-Baron disgraces her family, her father cut a deal with rival William Hadly, owner of Texhoma Oil. Evelyn will marry William's son Guy regardless of how either of the heirs feels. Unable to cope with a loveless marriage, Evelyn flees town as a maid to a Mrs. Smythe. Luke Deveraux cannot understand how a person can fall from grace so fast. He was recently a New Orleans police officer like his father and three brothers. Now he sees his picture on a wanted poster with a reward of four thousands dead or alive in Texas. His only hope for proof of his innocence lies with his former partner Henry Boyd squirreled away in New Mexico. When Mrs. Smythe fails to make the train due to her ailing canine, Luke buys her ticket. When Luke meets her maid, he realizes he has no choice but to allow Evelyn to accompany him so that she cannot reveal his identity. As they travel together, they fall in love while eluding the man her parents sent in pursuit of her and while chasing down the man that can prove his innocence. THE RUNAWAY HEIRESS is a fun romantic historical romp that will remind readers of It Happened One Night though the novel thoroughly brings to life an era two decades earlier than the classic movie. The story line is loaded with action as the two lead protagonists escape one caper only to land in the next escapade. Fans will enjoy StefAnn Holm's unrestrained Americana fable.Harriet Klausner
