Ulysses faces racism in his own native country of Southern Rhodesia, modern day Zimbabwe. British imperialism rules over Africa, black Africans are made to feel like second class citizens. The year is 1939, the Nazi war machine has completely paralyzed the Polish state, the Fuhrer pledges to reclaim all lost German land lost in the treaty of Versailles, with help of the Italian dictator Musso and the Japanese Emperor Hirohito they form a lethal Troika which sets out on creating fireballs of hell. Far away from the tranquillity of Southern Rhodesia, the European country of Beria is facing a huge decision of its own, surrender to Hitler or fight back, it chooses the latter and a Berian fight back is quickly rippled by the highly efficient German Wehrmacht. The Berian Royal family takes refuge in the United Kingdom. The Brits call upon man power from their colonies to provide for battle power in the theatres of war. Ulysses just like thirty percent of the male able bodied black population of Southern Rhodesia is compulsorily drafted into the Empire's army. Ulysses a man whose nursing a heart break from a girl he first saw in high school, their love denied by the prevailing colour bar, she was a pretty white girl from the city and him a dashing black boy from country side. Against all odds Ulysses becomes one of the few black African fighter pilots and flies with great distinction in an elite group of 8 pilots drawn from the British Commonwealth. The group of pilots is simply known as Group V. Group V is made up of the best pilots the Commonwealth has to offer and it's based in the south of Britain. It's on the backdrop of the European war theatre that Ulysses falls in love again. It's the coming together of two different people, she is white, his black, she has a totally different religious belief to his, she comes from a rich family, he comes from a poor one, his an African Rhodesian, her a European Berian and both are of Royal extraction but one's path to royalty has been gushed up by colonialism.As Hiroshima and Nagasaki laid in ruins, Hitler's vision of a Nazi world had been extinguished and Musso and his mistress Clara hang lifelessly in the streets of Milan. Ulysses and his new found lover seek to find their own Paradise to continue their forbidden love affair.
