The Rose of Tautsford is just what I needed during a snowy week at home in Oregon. Once I began, I couldn't stop reading. The characters moved in with me. Never was I able to guess what was coming next. Katherine Efting did a great job of planting the unexpected throughout. The interesting thing is I own lots of unread books. What a JOY to find one that captured my attention and took me on an adventure. I'm half way through my second read, growing closer to the characters and savoring their unique life stories.
Faith, redemption, and hope from greed, treachery, and cruelty

This young writer shows a powerful mastery of the unexpected plot, as she takes us through the story of the insatiable rage and lust of a cruel medieval ruler that undergoes a transformation through the love and forgiveness of a young woman. Her newfound love and faith will be necessary to help her through the ensuing heartaches and treacheries. I could not put this book down! I had to know what would happen next. The unexpected turns in the plot kept me guessing, and the tenderness of the heroine kept my sympathy. The first chapter is heartbreaking for the tenderhearted, but this book is well worth the perseverance. It made me cry, smile, and empathize with the events of the characters' lives, and left me with a sweet feeling of hope. Isn't that what a good book should do?

I'm a technical reader, I don't generally read fiction but I enjoyed this book because it isn't a love story it is a real story of love and committment. Real swooning, real contentment, real sorrow, real dissappointment, punctuated with the hint for a successful relationship.
