Very Informative

The material in each chapter is clear and concise, with subheadings used to separate topics. The author uses diagrams, lists, and self-assessments to help the readers visualize and apply the information. It is written in easy to understand language, and although the author does mention some management theories, the majority of the information is presented as practical advice that can be easily put into action. This book would be especially helpful for someone who took a management class several years before being promoted and needed a refresher course. There are many parallels between this book and the textbook I read for my management class. This book is a great recommendation for anyone who has recently been promoted to management or who needs to improve managerial skills. It could even be useful to business students who would like to do some additional reading in the area of management. The concepts in the book are applicable to a wide range of businesses, it is a quick read, and explains its main points clearly, concisely, and in such a way that the information can be easily applied to real life situations.

Rookie manager

This is a great first read for a "rookie Manager". In fact I don't usually take the time to go back and write a review on any book that I read. But, I was just getting ready to purchase this for a new supervisor that I just hired. This book is responsible for my survival of my first 6 months on the job.

Teaching My Rookie Managers

I literally stumbled on this book in my local bookstore. I read it, then re-read it, then read it again. I am the Director of Operations for a small corporation owning 15 restaurants and I was so excited to see the very most important concepts of leadership in management expressed in such a clear, concise, easy to follow way. The book is not too deep and not too long, just right for young restaurant Managers who have short attention spans or feel they do not have time to read. I am ordering 20 copies to hand out to all my managers. This book will be added to the list of required reading in our company.
