An Amazing Book!!!!

I love this book!!! It has helped me to look at things differently and understand so much more about myself and relationships than any other I've read.

EVERYONE will benefit from this book!

The author of this book(Dr.Zane Nelson) is my psychologist, very proud to say so. I'm a bipolar patient of his and I'm 20 years old. ***Let me first say that I'm not giving this book praise because of my relation to the author but because it's really opened my eyes to all the little things I've been overlooking in life. A few weeks before this book was released, he had some copies in his office, for patients waiting to be seen, to read. I read the first couple of pages and wasn't too interested. Mainly because I was so set in my ways and didn't think that a book can tell me what my problem was. OPEN YOUR MIND UP when reading self-help books. This one in particular doesn't criticize you but helps guide you to understanding and finding ways to resolve or prevent forseable problems.*** This book is great for everyone, not just those with psychological illnesses or any crippling disease. Even if your life is perfect, you can take a lot from this. There are many different scenarios and stories in this book that helps illustrate the different ways you can handle a situation. He's got many personal stories that are inspiring and sad to hear about, but it makes you see things in a different light. This book isn't trying to change you, it's just giving you different paths to choose from. Your options are put on the table and from there, you decide... ***I'm not a religious person at all. This book has many religious(Christian & LDS) passages and quotes from the bible. It doesn't bother me because they're not in the book to try to convert but to help make a point. Basically they're broad messages that he's trying to send in out general. The book is easy to read(I'm not much of a reader), understand and is well organized. As I've said before, I suffer from a mental disorder that cripples my ability to sometimes make rational decisions and thoughout my life, I've made too many mistakes. In the past couple of years since being under my psychiatrist's and Dr.Nelson's care, I've slowly gathered my life together, grown into an independent woman and now I'm taking these CRUCIAL STEPS into becoming a successful human being in life. I thought that I was a fairly optimistic person but after reading this book, I KNOW that my outlook on everything has changed. I'm more poised, assertive and diplomatic about any situation that may arise. My whole life didn't change all because of this book but in the process...THIS BOOK IS WHAT HAS MADE ME TURN A NEW LEAF. Given that a lot of it is because I'm on medication(management), psychotherapy and doing other things such as: excerise, eating right and getting enough sleep are key things that help make a person healthier. ***I'M NOT SAYING: Medication is for everyone, not everyone needs psychotherapy(counseling)...BUT IT'S WHAT WORKS FOR ME. Basically bipolar disorder is best treated with a combination of meds/psychotherapy and a healthy lifestyle. So PLEASE don't get the wrong idea from that statement of mine.*** T

Everyone needs Dr. Zane Nelson's book The Road Most Traveled!

The ROAD MOST TRAVELED - 13 COMMON MISTAKES FOR MAKING LIFE MISERABLE is a Christian-based self-help book. In 13 reader-friendly chapters, Dr. Nelson starts each chapter with a common mistake or thinking error that many, if not most, of us deal with in life. For instance, chapter 5 is called "Believe There is Only ONE Right Way to Do Things." He starts out stating that now that we are grown and we realize that our future and destiny are up to us, we probaby have prayed fervently and found that God wants us to pursue a particular course. He goes on stating that rational and clear-thinking individuals realize that truth is truth...there can't be three answers to 3 + 2 = 5. Certainly, a loving Heavenly Father would NOT send multiple ways of success down to his beloved children, would HE? That would be confusing wouldn't it?" Okay, so much for the thinking error! Now Dr. Nelson (in a way so caring and yet light-hearted enough that we don't feel picked on) explains "NOPE...Each of us comes to this earth with our own unique perspective and unique set of trials, abilities, and limitations. The Lord has said that HE is no respecter of persons but psychology has identified an IQ to graph or rank how bright a person is. This score is NOT FAIR, it is NOT IMPARTIAL, and it is NOT our choice. However, it IS the way it is..." Dr. Nelson points out that many of us compare ourselves to others and explains that ANY comparison is going to end up short-cutting or making the person doing the comparing feel bad. We always seem to compare OUR WORST with someone else's BEST. But even the Lord told the parable of the TEN TALENTS in the New Testament and told us that the servant that multiplied his TWO talents was just as blessed in HIS eyes as the servant who multiplied Ten. Dr. Nelson tells every mom in the world that she doesn't have to be SUPERMOM to be acceptable! He tells every father in the world that God doesn't care whether he is a farmer, plumber, ditch-digger, day laborer, or teacher! Well, I LOVE this book. I have felt SO uplifted, so hopeful and so HOPE-FILLED by its guidance and practical approach! I recommend it highly to EVERYONE!
