June Bug McRainey has spent the majority of her life in the Mississippi Delta, on the banks of the river that Mark Twain made famous, and that she has claimed for herself. During those early years when the aftermath of the Depression threatened to steal Stonewall, the family plantation, she did what had to be done to ensure her family's continued ownership. The ends justified the means, she told herself. Much later in life, after she's encountered Jesus in a most unlikely manner, she struggles with both the truth and the fall-out of so many of those actions.
