His world in chaos, no longer wealthy or from an elite class, he is assisted in his search for Esther, by a Muslim police chief, a brother of a soldier Abraham saved in battle. Ransom is paid for his daughters release with a 2500 year old family heirloom, a precious ring. The book is a travel log, not only geographical but spiritual, a tale of moving from an object of history to a subject of history. From peace to war, wealth to poverty, privilege to need, his life a testament to love and gratitude.
