Many of these were Christians and their influence can be felt today in the heart of Texas. This story is based on private family records and genealogical documents with fictional accounts between historical events. It describes their arduous journeys, astounding setbacks, deception, intrigue, and murder with many twists and turns. It's a story about freedom and determination to pursue one's dreams whether white or black, and one of romance, struggle, perseverance, and finally peace.
