Wish These Were Back In Print

I grew up with these books and we absolutely loved them. They have been a family favorite that we guard as we have the original individual books. My mom keeps buying this compilation whenever it is available so each grandkid household can have their own. I've also bought them for my kids for when they are older. I wish they were back in print!

Helpful Hal is My Pal

O.K., the title for this review is a bit hokey, but there is nothing hokey about this book! I absolutely love it and so do my kids (3 and 5). I have never seen a book that nails virtues such as Kindness, Forgiveness, Love, Patience and Truth for kids like this one does. There are at least a dozen stories for kids and parents to choose from and each one is wonderfully illustrated and delightfully worded in rhyme. I constantly find myself trying to talk in rhyme after reading this book to the kids - it's that much fun!Get it if you can. It's a gem.

Rhymes with content

I love this book, though I must admit at first I found it a bit tongue twisting. I got used my tongue being in knots and my kids loved listening to me trip over it. Our copy is becoming a bit worn due to its regular readings. Even my (almost) 9 year old loves to read it and hear it read. I love the complete message, it gets to all those feelings we all go through in being obedient to The Word! It gives resolution and scripture to back it up. If it were readily available, I would put back a couple of copies and give it as a baby gift all the time.

Readable and RE-readable to a wide age range!

These cleverly rhymed and fast-paced stories are enjoyed by children just old enough to be read to and by 9 and 10 year olds, as well. Best of all, they are fun to read aloud - and this is important when your 4 year old wants to hear "Casey the Greedy Young Cowboy" just ONE more time! The artwork is bright, clear and appealing. This is a book you will enjoy for a long time. I highly recommend it. R.S.
