In the visions of John of Patmos in AD 95, recorded in The Book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, angels drop seven plagues on mankind. Over the past 700 years, we have not fared well against a half-dozen contagions that have confronted us as a species-TB, Black Death, Great Plague of London, Spanish Flu, AIDS, COVID-19. Were these the plagues and contagions the angels sprinkled on us?
