There is no way that we should be able to study the book of Revelation, which is an almost entirely prophetic book, and not learn about the roles in which Jesus operates. In very few words, whether they were written in the seven letters to the seven churches or presenting imagery in the other chapters, we are required to search the Scriptures to find the correlating substantive and contextual reference material to understand what Revelation is trying to tell us. Of a surety, everything presented in Revelation will be found elsewhere. Why so? Because the Word of God is written about the Word of God, and Revelation is merely the capstone which brings everything together in one place and puts a fine point on it. If you have not learned about Jesus prior to studying Revelation, you must do so in order to understand what is written in this book. As we move through the chapters and verses of Revelation, we will continue to be introduced to more of Jesus's titles and roles. Revelation 5 is certainly no exception. The last one we learned about in Revelation 4 was that of Jesus the Righteous Judge. This provides the perfect lead-in to what we will next learn about Jesus.
